Gobi Desert

We leave at 8:30, not earlier than after filling up the tank. The gas stations in rural areas are family-run, so it sometimes happens that we have to wake up the lady who sleeps in a tent near the station to be served. Of course, we also need to factor in the time required to start the generator that pumps fuel and perform any necessary operations, which adds another half hour.

Museums and memory in the Gobi Desert

Let's head east. towards the P.N. Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park. The road, initially beautiful, becomes more challenging as we approach mountainous terrain. We arrive at the entrance to the park, 10 km from Yolyn Am (Eagle Valley), where the natural history museum is located, which we visit. There are the usual stuffed animals and mineral samples present in the area. It surprises us to see a golden eagle, exactly of the type recently reintroduced into the Alps. We enter the valley of Yolyn Am and we walk along the path stretches for two kilometers within the narrow gorge. The ice lasts for most of the year, but it's logical to observe that by the end of August it had all melted. The landscape is beautiful, but not particularly scenic. The wind is cold and must be amazing to see large blocks of ice, while just a few dozen kilometers away, the sun beats down on the desert.

The Ger Camp It is located at quite a distance, in the flattest plain. It is comfortable and inside them were the curtains They are even more colorful than usual. There's no risk of arguing with neighbors: for dozens of kilometers around the field, you can see... only desert plains.

Usual dinner and walk Also this time, without the discomfort of the cold. It's already the second night in a row that we haven't been freezing.
