Bhaktapur, the earthquake didn't destroy history - returning home, or the dream come true.

Bhaktapur, last day in Nepal

Among these, one is definitely the town of Bhaktapur. Just 8 km from the capital, it represented with Kathmandu and Patan a peak of that triangle of cities, which experienced a particularly... architectural flowering, thanks to positive competition between them. However, we didn't expect it to be so interesting, even among the ruins caused by the recent earthquake. In particular, the main square is a true gem, with temples and palaces worthy of attention. But the entire central village makes us feel like we are in a medieval-present setting, where artisans are at work. monks and common people.

Bhaktapur
Interesting fact
The three cities in the valley
Sadhus walk through a narrow street in a city with Tibetan influences.

Three hours pass incredibly quickly and we need to return to the base where we still have to pay our shopping expenses. This doesn't require much effort at all, given the various and pleasant alternatives on display in the shops of Thamel. It also shows the creativity and hard work of a people, proud of their traditions and craftsmanship. At 5 pm, it's time to meet at the hotel and depart for the airport. Happiness and sadness, nostalgia that begins to emerge even before the present turns into the past. These are places where it's easy to feel at home, with people who are easy to befriend. But this time, the Etihad flight has no intention of staying on the ground or returning as happened yesterday in Lhasa. The story ends here and ends well, once again we feel grateful and connected to our friends that we leave behind in this land, and we are also thankful for the lessons they taught us. We hope to have been able to learn, remember, and put them into practice.
