Day 9
Hill of Tara and Drogheda
The Ireland of standing stones and druids – near Dublin
Morning at Hill of Tara
The bed and breakfast offers a typical Irish breakfast with pudding (blood sausage), bacon, sausages, eggs, and tomatoes, all served in a room that would take hours to fully appreciate and describe; there are so many paintings, dishes, and ceramic tableware, as well as wooden supports containing countless collections of pasta, and every kind of utensil; each shelf or wall space can be carefully examined without ever becoming overly ostentatious. Be careful not to damage anything with a careless movement, we enjoy the abundant meal, and around 9 am we head towards Kildare. The night before, a group of local tourists arrived at the B&B, having come with the idea of camping overnight, but they had to give up on their plans due to the continuous rain and opted for a dry bed for the night.

KILDARE COUNTY
Hill of Tara
with the St. Brigid's Cathedral, which can only be viewed from the outside due to unforeseen COVID-related reasons; of interest is the wishing stone, where, according to tradition, you can make your wishes come true by touching your shoulder after inserting your arm into it. At Castletown There is a beautiful, elegant house, surrounded by the park where cheerful families stroll in a peaceful setting; this characteristic has been maintained thanks to the children's education, lively and boisterous as it should be, but without the sharp tones and shouts that are often heard at home. The same dogs happily wander around their owners in perfect harmony. Our lunch is equally delightful: salmon fillet, cheese, and whatever remains from yesterday evening's bottle, which easily kept itself at room temperature thanks to the 15°C external temperature. Everything in this wonderful setting within the park. The dry spell ends perfectly when we get into the car towards Hill of Tara.

Meath County
MEATH COUNTY
Stone of Destiny
where St. Patrick lit the fire that heralded the arrival of Christianity in the country in 433. But the site is much older, when the first burials took place in the mounds around 5000 years ago, followed by the druids (mythical pagan priests) a few millennia later. The history here has created a Irish civilization From its very beginnings, and in some ways one could say it contributed to its origin. Of particular interest is the Stone of Destiny, a phallic stone to represent the union between heaven and earth.
Louth County
LOUTH COUNTY
Let's go to take possession of the room in a luxurious villa booked through Airbnb (I still don't understand why people who own certain houses have to rent out rooms to strangers, sharing common areas with them). And then we are going to... Drogheda It's a city that doesn't have much to offer, but it's worth a stroll, especially after dinner, when the rain gives way to a beautiful sunset.
