Day 1
Kingston
From Toronto to Kingston. First taste of Eastern Canada
Arrival in Kingston
Departed from Paris with half an hour's delay. The flight lasted 7 hours and 10 minutes. We arrived on time and picked up the car at Avis, a Pontiac Grand Am (the onboard comfort was excellent). At 5:15 PM we headed towards Kingston, passing through Toronto during rush hour. This took about three-quarters of an hour of patience. On the highway, traffic is heavy, and despite the speed limit of 100 km/h, most drivers are going at around 120 km/h. It's worth noting the frequent trucks that whizz past on all lanes at speeds no lower than those of cars.
Arrived at Kingston, after a brief introductory tour without seeing any hotels, we found accommodation at the Queen's Inn, which might be a bit expensive but is worth it for its historical significance. The hotel dates back to 1839 and is one of the oldest in the country. The bedroom has a stone wall inside a very characteristic building.
Around 9 pm, we go for dinner at the first non-Asian restaurant we find; it's Greek, and the meal is enjoyable (a selection of typical Greek appetizers). We take a leisurely stroll through the city center. City Hall Well lit, with the other side facing Lake Ontario. The tiredness from the 6-hour time difference is starting to become noticeable, so we go to bed without any difficulty.
